Hours: 15-25 hours per week, flexible between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday-Friday

Pay: $20 per hour

Job Description:

Designer's Warehouse is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable individual to join our team as an Inspections Specialist. As an Inspections Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality of our inspection service and customer satisfaction. Your primary responsibility will be to meticulously inspect a variety of furniture items, lighting fixtures, wall decor, and other home goods, and accurately document their condition through detailed images.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect a minimum of 5 items per hour, following the provided inspection procedures. Items must be inspected within 3 days of receipt.

  • Take clear and in-focus images of the exterior box/packaging and all sides of each item, including the top.  

  • In the event of a defect, alert the administrative team.

  • Ensure that images are taken even if no defects are found, as these images are used by designers to verify the correct item and color/pattern.  

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure the safety and proper handling of items.

  • Communicate effectively with the team regarding any issues or concerns encountered during inspections.

  • Inspect items in the order they are received unless otherwise requested.

  • Take images using a phone app that automatically syncs with our clients' inventory portal(s).

  • In the event of a defect, provide a brief written description of the issue within the inventory portal.

Potential Issue Categories:

>Damage: This includes dents, scratches, cracks, tears, or any other physical damage to the item.  

>Defects: Manufacturing flaws, such as uneven finishes, loose joints, or missing parts.  

>Stains: Markings or discolorations on the fabric or upholstery.  

>Irregularities: Inconsistency in color, pattern, or texture. For example, uneven stain across wood surfaces.

>Missing Parts: Any components that are missing from the item, such as hardware, cushions, or accessories.  

>Working Order: For items with moving parts, such as drawers or doors, ensure they function correctly.

Qualifications:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify defects or inconsistencies.

  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to established procedures.

  • Proficiency in using a camera or smartphone to capture high-quality images.

  • Proficiency in using inventory software to make notes on items.

  • Excellent time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
